Christmas Cards, at least in our house, are much anticipated. The kids look forward to checking the mail, and if there's a brightly colored envelope, they squeal in delight, "Open it, Mommy! Who is it from?" They love the pictures and images, and delight in the sentiment sent from someone they love. Their excitement gives me pause - after all, Christmas is about people. It is not about buying the best gift, not about keeping up with harried holiday schedules, not checking another thing off my to do list. It is about connecting with those we love, near and far, and sharing a bit of that holiday joy. If we can't be together in person, sending a thoughtful note and maybe even a recent photo, bridges that gap just a little.
And you know what? It's about taking the time to open the cards with my kids and share in that delight that someone, somewhere is thinking of us this time of year too.
If you're still looking for that thoughtful card to send to your friends far and near, stop into The Dandelion Patch and take a peek at our wide selection of boxed sets. We even have some fun pens to put the joy into writing. Relax, enjoy, and connect with those you love this season. |

If you, like us, love Christmas in Washington, while you're in our store you can select a copy of Season's Greetings From the White House by Mary Evans Seely. This gorgeous book traces the history of Calvin Coolidge lighting the first national Christmas Tree in 1923, though every presidential Christmas that followed. It is a delightful tribute to how our nation's leaders celebrate their traditions.
It is a must on the gitft lists of collectors of White House memoribilia. And for you stationery devotees, each President's holiday greetings along with staff gifts are shown in this volume. The photographs are of the highest quality.
While we can't invite you to the White House itself to witness the stunning decor, we cordially invite you to The Dandelion Parch for a peek at our leaders' celebrations of the season. |
| Table Talk |
|
|
Dismayed by the silence around your dinner table? Table Topics is the entertaining solution - a compelling collection of conversation starters that can be kept on the family dinner table or your desk at work, used as coasters during cocktail hour or set at each plate for dinner parties. Ask questions like "If you got a tattoo, what kind would you get and where would you put it?" and "Is intelligence or common sense more important?" Admired as a fun way for family and friends to reconnect and discover more about themselves and each other, Table Topics promises a new experience every time. We have several editions to choose from: Original (adults), Family, Couples, Book Club, and Topics to Go, which includes kids topics and election topics. Come in to The Dandelion Patch and start that great discussion! |
| In Service on the Holiday Table |
|
So much goes into preparing the holiday table, and in many of our homes, it is time to showcase the special serving pieces that add to the tradition. We've had more than a few customers comment on the beauty of our Mariposa silver platters. They make wonderful gifts and would add sparkle and glimmer to your own holiday table. We're showing them in the store lights, but the talk is they're even more stunning by candelight. We invite you to come in and see them for yourself.

| Confessions of a Customer |

"When I die, they'll have to bury me in The Dandelion Patch," jokes Linda Campbell about one of her favorite places. "When I'm in a bad mood, I can come in here and it makes me feel happy."
This Great Falls mom of three has been a customer since the Reston location has opened. Her favorite section of the store is the invitations.
"I love their invitation selection; it just motivates you to have a party!" After viewing a particularly cute holiday invitation, Linda and her family are hosting a Santa Brunch.
Her three kids, Kelsey, 8, Katie 7, and Connor, 3, occasionally pop into The Patch with their mom, but she comes in alone more often to buy little surprises for them. Connor selected his backpack from the store in person, and while he liked the idea of having it monogrammed, he didn't want to leave the store without it. "I had to sneak it back in for them to add his initials," Linda admits. She gets many compliments on the reversible placemats purchased at The Dandelion Patch. "Each has the child's name on it, and the kids help set the table."
We're sure Santa is pleased to see the Campbell kids being so helpful, Linda. Please remind him when he stops by for brunch that we have plenty of things to add to Mommy's stocking this year as well!
