Confessions of A Customer
When we asked Susan Thompson-Hoel what she
recently purchased at The Dandelion Patch, it read
like our store inventory list, "Jewelry- necklaces,
earrings and bracelets, stationery, invitations, a tote
bag for summer, a new purse...oh, and these cool
decorative file folders," she gushed. When we asked
how often she visited to make these great
purchases, she exclaimed, "Three or four times a
week," without hesitation.
Susan's loyalty to The Dandelion Patch goes
beyond "regular customer" status. This Vienna native
and mom of three has shopped with us for years, and
was excited to learn of Heidi Kallett's purchase of the
store last year. "I just knew with new management
and new organization, the store would be even
better," she said.
She adds that being receptive to new ideas, like her
suggestion to carry the Lulu & Merie stationery line,
and listening to customer input is a great strength of
the store. The addition of Sunday hours makes it
even easier for a busy mom to stop in when she has
a kid-free moment.
Susan has even gotten the children involved in her
frequent
shopping excursions. Her 7 year old son recently
accompanied her to select a pool party invitation and
have it printed in the store. "They did a great job
with a quick turnaround."
We look forward to seeing Susan just as often in
our new, larger store location. She'll likely know our
new layout as well as we will, so we'll depend on her
to give customer tours at our new space when she
pops in!

to suit the mood, and the brightly colored envelopes
make a statement when paired with the stationery.

Finally! A Stylish Solution to the Takeout Jumble

Things are about to get pretty busy in our
households with school starting and the lazy, relaxing
days of summer waning into autumn. If you're like
most folks, time gets tight too, what with all the
schedule juggling going on. What? Its dinner time
already? Time to call takeout!
At this point the scramble for the takeout menus
begins. If you're a super-organized person,
they're all stored neatly in one place right? (Yeah,
sure.) For the rest of us, there's an answer. A cool
company called, Tatutina, created the most clever,
decorative, solution to the menu mix up to hit this
busy mom's kitchen -- the TAKE OUT BOX.
You just have to see these. We have several
styles, and they're all just great. Not only for how
they look, but what they do. Pizza, Chinese, Thai
and hot wings are all at your fingertips in one place.
No more shuffling through that drawer looking for the
one menu you knew was around here somewhere,
while the family counts on you to order wings for the
Redskins preseason game on TV.
After all, who says we can't savor the ease of
summer when the school year starts? Oh, and please
pass me another hot wing, while you're at it.

Creating a Sensual Mood

When someone thinks, "sensual" they think "touch",
but actually, the sense of smell is one of our
keenest, and it is well known among psychologists to
be the most memory-evoking. Think Grandma's
kitchen, freshly cut grass,
a new puppy's sweet breath...see what I mean?
Of course, the French know this better than anyone,
and Lampe Berger Paris has been captivating the
senses since 1898 when they introduced their
ingenious air purifiers into French hospitals to rid
them of that "hospital smell". (C'mon, you know what
that smells like too...)
These are fragrance lamps, and they emanate a host
of welcoming scents in an array of attractive
designs. This goes WAY beyond the 'spritz a little
perfume on the lightbulb' trick. These beauties can
easily set a scented mood in a 300 square foot room.
We're talking a scientific process of catalytic
combustion. When the flame is lit, it heats up the
exterior, which in turn remains hot and continues to
disperse the fragrance long after the flame is
extinguished.
Each elegantly designed lamp gently burns an
enchanting perfume of choice, permeating the air
with luxurious custom fragrances whose ability to
create atmosphere and evoke memories adds a
unique dimension to creating a sense of home.
We look forward to demonstrating this art of
atmosphere in our new location. Come in and smell it
for yourself.
